Southend Council welcomes you to the official Southend Festival of the Air 2009 website.

Southend's events programme has undergone an exciting change for 2009, with a range of major festivals taking place across the whole of the borough throughout the year.

In keeping with the 'Feast of Festivals' theme, the Southend Airshow is being relaunched for this year as the "Festival of the Air" as one of the first of many major Festival events taking place all through the summer and into the winter months, demonstrating the Council's commitment to ensuring that the town is re-energised as a great place to live, work and visit.

The skies over the seafront at Southend will be filled with the sights and sounds of high speed jets and breathtaking display teams on the Bank Holiday weekend - Sunday 24th & Bank Holiday Monday 25th May 2009 at the Southend Festival of the Air. 2009 will be the 24th year that Southend has staged one of Europe's largest free Airshow, and visitors can expect some special items this year...
